Easy Falafel Burger with Jalapeño Mayo
Falafel has always been one of our favorite foods, with a crispy crust, tasty interior and packed with fresh herbs. The sharp freshness of the coriander compliments the smoother taste of the chickpeas extremely well, giving the burger a balance of flavors.
Our easy falafel burger recipe is one of the quickest burger recipes we have ever made! Starting from scratch and building a mouthwateringly delicious burger in only 20 minutes is a miracle! The fact that this falafel burger is also pretty healthy helps me eat it even quicker!
Now, on to the recipe!
Easy Falafel Burger
This easy falafel burger uses fresh herbs and plant based ingredients to create a mouthwatering, crispy and delicious alternative to other burgers. The chickpeas are a great source of protein making this a healthy addition to your table.
Servings 4 burgers
Calories 251kcal
Ingredients
For the patties:
- 1 can chickpeas drained and rinsed
- 1/2 red onion diced
- 2 cloves garlic
- 1/4 cup fresh Italian parsley
- 1/4 cup fresh coriander
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon pink salt
- 1/2 cup chickpea flour (you can use any flour you have)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
To assemble the burger:
- 4 fresh burger buns
- burger relish
- guacamole
- fresh coriander
- sliced tomato
Instructions
Make the falafel patties:
- Place the chickpeas, red onion, crushed garlic, parsley, coriander, cumin, pink salt, and flour in your food processor. Pulse the ingredients until they start to combine. Slowly add the olive oil as you pulse the mixture to help it combine. Make sure to stop every now and again to scrape down the sides of the food presser (this mixture sometimes sticks together too well!)
- Put some oil on your hands and form the falafel mixture into 3 inch by roughly 1/2 inch (8 cm by 2 cm) patties
- In a large skillet or pan, heat oil over medium-high heat and fry the patties. Let them fry for about 5 minutes on one side. Once you start to see the patties browning on the sides, turn them over and fry for another 5 minutes. If you like your patties to be crisp, fry them for a few minutes more. Remove from pan and let the extra oil drain on some paper towels
Assembling the burger:
- Cut your buns in half and toast in the oven until lightly golden
- Spread your preferred condiments over the lower bun and add some fresh coriander. Add your patty, guacamole, relish and sliced tomato in no particular order, top it off with a lightly toasted bun and enjoy!
Notes
You'll see I made sweet potato fries with this burger and I love them because they do have a slightly sweet taste that goes well with any savoury dish.

Thanks for your comment Greatest You!
This looks decadent. My mouth and eye’s are watering just from the very sight. Will try in the VERY NEAR future. Thanks delicious plants.
I have to try this recipe. I must say that this Vegan Falafel Burger is mouthwatering indeed. With chickpeas as a part of the ingredients, I am even more for it. That is one of my favorite. Even though I use it often in many dishes, I actually never thought about making chickpea patties. I will be making these for dinner over the weekend, and will also try the vegan chocolate brownies. I will share this post with my daughter who is trying to start a vegan diet.
Yay! I’m glad you liked it Carol! Thank you for your comment, let me know how yours come out this weekend 🙂 I will be posting an article on starting a vegan diet soon, maybe it can be of some help to your daughter? Have a great day!
The recipe looks very easy. My daughter prefers to not eat meat and it has been a struggle to figure out what to fix for her. The store-bought ones are good but it gets costly. I will definitely be looking into trying this recipe!
These burgers would be a great meat alternative for your daughter, let me know what she thinks! Thanks for your comment Marsha, have a lovely day 🙂
Your pictures just made me hungry. They look so delicious and easy to make. I am not good at cooking so I always look look for a simple recipes that don’t take too much time. I will have to try this out. Veggie burger sounds wonderful. Thank you for this great recipe.
Thanks for this yummy recipe. I am not a vegan but even I am tempted to try this. I do have meals that don’t include meat so I’ll be definitely giving this a go.
It does look like it will be quite a mouthful though. I think though I will be changing the bun, might have a flatter bun as I prefer that.
Awesome Owain! It was a massive burger, but it fills you up really well – let me know how it turns out!
This recipe looks soooo good and easy. Can’t wait to try it!
Can I use gluten-free flour, instead chickpea flour? If yes, what should be the measure?
You could use gluten-free flour but you would have to add some xantham gum to help the patty bind. You could also use a flax egg which is made by mixing together 1 tablespoon of flax meal with 3 tablespoons of water and adding to the patty mix.
If you’re gluten-free then the chickpea flour would work perfectly well as its naturally gluten-free.
Let me know how they come out, I would love to hear!
Hi i tried this recipe and it turned into hummus basically…any suggestions
Hi Jack I would add some more chickpea flour to the mix until its drier and can stick together better – hope that helps!
